Who We Are
What We Believe
So, you’re visiting CBC for the first time. The music is a little loud but good. The people are a little peculiar but friendly. The next thing you’re wondering is, “what do these people believe?”
We believe the Bible! Yep. All of it…from cover to cover. We believe that the Bible is the very word of God. It is timeless, truthful, and applies to all generations.
We believe that there is one true God who created the heavens and the earth. We believe that God created man in His own image and because of that life is sacred. Man was created with a free will and chose to sin against God.
Because of God’s great love for us He sent His son Jesus to die for our sins. Jesus is fully man and fully God. He lived a faultless life and offered it up as a sacrifice by dying on the cross for our sins. The only way that we can have eternal life is by believing in Him and making Him Lord of our lives.
Salvation is not something we earn or deserve but it is a free gift from God to all who believe by faith in Jesus Christ.
These are a few of the essential beliefs we hold at CBC. What makes CBC who we are is that even though we believe all scripture is inspired, inerrant, and all of it equally true, we do not believe all doctrines are equally important. On essential beliefs we have unity, on non-essential beliefs we have liberty, and in all beliefs we show love.
We have intentionally kept our statement of faith short and to the point, covering only those beliefs that are considered essential. We understand that by focusing primarily on essential beliefs we must be prepared to accept a significant level of diversity on certain controversial issues.
Our prayer is that you will find CBC to be a place where you belong, a place where you are loved, accepted, and forgiven, a place where you are challenged and encouraged to live your life for Jesus Christ.
